Why does this not surprize me?

Give an inch and they will take a mile.

Another example of how corrupt the automotive industry really is (presuming this is true and sadly it probably is). Also shows how desperate they are becoming with the realisation that their current ICE technology cannot meet future targets legitimately. It's fast becoming a total shit show.

Simple answer is to change the limits.

 Very true, coz no manufacturer is ever able to comply. Seems the development engineers and the regulators live on different planets.

I would like to see realistic figures for the BEV's taking into account generation CO2, battery elements transport and environment depletion

..decreasing emissions readings, increasing emission readings.....they can’t win can they?πŸ˜‚

That's a difficult task, but MIT recently did an independent study of lifetime emissions across a wide range of ICE, hybrid and BEVs and their conclusion was that BEVs are significantly better overall (something like 30-40% less IIRC). There was some overlap, which the gutter press picked up on e.g. a micro sized ICE car was fractionally less polluting overall than a 700 hp Tesla Model S charged on dirty grid power in the mid-west US, but like for like comparisons all clearly favoured EVs, regardless of how dirty the grid power was. EVs have their environmental issues for sure, but less so than equivalent ICE powered cars.
