Just got insurance renewal for my GTS. 2nd year and it's up by 30%. This is even after comparison websites for equivalent cover. I had heard premiums were rising but wasn't expecting such a jump. Anyone else noticed this? No accidents, claims or convictions.

Par for the course in this ridiculous market. I go through Adrian Flux. They helped me out last time when I threw a fit at my premium. They can at least look through the entire market as a bulk buyer.

Premiums can be surprisingly sensitive to small reductions in estimated annual mileage. I've previously tended to err a bit on the high side with my estimate, but this year was able to reduce the renewal premium with NFU by 5% after shaving off a couple of thousand miles. The policy T&Cs state that you only need to notify if the estimate is exceeded by more than 10%.

Try Aviva and Zurich as they are not on the comparison web sites. I have found Liverpool Victoria [LV] very good, but do not auto-renew and get a fresh quote via the comparison sites for the last two years. Tip the earlier, from your renewal date, that you get a quote, the more likely you are to get a favourably priced quote - most can be obtained 21 days but some 30 days in advance.

My NFU renewal has just landed @£450 ish... (£35 more than last yr)
Aviva want £485, Saga won’t quote (at fault claim in 2016 seems to be the issue)
comparison sites seen to be mostly early £400s for companies I’ve never heard of!
So NFU it is!
1st Sapphire SD
2nd Sapphire GTS

Wow, Aviva 30% cheaper than best quote on comparison and renewal from admiral, and that's without the tracker enabled. I'll try a few others still but much happier. Thanks for advice.

Into my second year with NFU now, premium reduced from £360 to £284 at renewal. Worth a look if you haven't already.

Have to agree about NFU, the insurance for my GTS was cheaper than my SD, Like has been said worth a try if you are not with them, I have a multicar policy with them and they were cheaper than the likes of Admiral etc

Do NFU give online quotes or is it just an old fashioned phone call required?
