My golf shows zero miles when there are about 6 or 7 litres left so a good 40 miles if I were ever to be stuck
I expect the Macan to be similar

It was the lowest I have run the Turbo, but it was the fact that it went from
10 fuel miles to
- - - fuel miles that gave a we bit of concern.
The old Jag would go down to 0 miles without problem.
As it was from where I set off there were no filling stations except one at Asda until I got onto the Mway but I thought that there would be enough fuel to get to Tebay Village with some to spare as it as I stopped at Tebay services.
A biker saying ..... full tank, empty bladder

Did I imagine it, or is it not recommended to run the car on very low fuel, as the ‘dregs’ at the bottom of the tank may not be good for the engine...?

The manual says not to run the fuel system dry. Rather than ‘dregs’, which there shouldn’t be, it’s more to do with potential damage to fuel system components that are cooled and lubricated by the fuel running through. Introducing air into the system will be problematic for starting and will result in poor fuelling for a while, to say nothing of what the ECU will make of it all!

I think this is true of diesels rather than petrol systems. I once ran a diesel minibus very low on fuel on a trip to the alps and the fuel system became clogged with debris and had to be flushed.Wing Commander wrote: ↑Mon Aug 20, 2018 6:44 pm Did I imagine it, or is it not recommended to run the car on very low fuel, as the ‘dregs’ at the bottom of the tank may not be good for the engine...?
