Shows how we've all been fooled by unrealistic test procedures and the cheating even on those unrealistic tests is an indication of how far away manufacturers really are from true compliance with these tougher standards. This is a major reality check coming up.

To be confrontational
The problem is not the car companies but the standards and people wrongly assuming that test results are meant to relate to real world conditions.
I would argue the tests results are a useful measure between two different models.

I think most people would prefer a real world representation of what they can expect from their car. I think your argument is flawed in that some manufacturers results are a lot closer to real world than others so not really like for like.

It’s a similar story with EVs and the EPA and NEDC estimates - the respective US and EU standards.
And do we really expect manufacturers NOT to talk up their products?

Interesting article.
If correct it shows just what trouble the VW group as a whole is in producing engines that will be compliant to the new standards.
VWs actions can only benefit them in the short term, but what now?

Strange logic when the tests are supposed to be a simulation of real world driving conditions? As said above these lab tests are highly misleading if two cars can score the same results in the lab and yet totally differently out on the road. Hence why these tests have now been revised to be actually more realistic.rossman999 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 05, 2018 10:31 pm To be confrontational
