I bought some after market 19" wheels and tyres for my GTS. They are mak rennen with n rated dunlop winter sport tyres. About 1600 all in. Got them between the snow falls last winter and the difference from the summer tyres was astonishing. Need to go to 19" if you might want to fit chains too, which can be mandatory in some countries in extreme conditions. Having driven in deep snow last winter though I would not fit chains unless forced to do so by authorities. I looked at the 19" classics from OPC but in the end just to much. I would go that route for ease of cleaning though if you can justify the expense.

If you do go for the 20inch snow tyre option then Konig K-Summit XXL snowchains will fit, but they're a bit pricey! I saved about £100 by buying mine from Amazon.de rather than the UK site. I bought them to use with my 20inch All-Season tyres when I lived in Romania.

I'll fit them mine in late October until next Feb/March.
Falling temperature is as good a guide as any, even without snow/ice you will be better off with them. The advice is that when its below 7c summers begin to lose flexibility and grip, with softer rubber, more pliable sidewalls and a specialised tread pattern Winters will do a far etter job.
Just bought a used (minimal) set of 19" Turbo wheels fitted with Contis for my Panamera, seems sensible since we'll do a winter Euro drive. Only ever used All seasons on the Macans, they were fine with 4wd, but have fitted winters to our runabout Fiat 500, for years and they are absolutely essential living half way up a reasonable incline.

Agreed. It isn't so much day to day driving. It's the moment you have to make a sudden stop when you really notice that they grip the road. No skidding, nothing.

I’m a firm believer in full Winter tyres, and in past have bought 2nd wheel sets for my XC90, Bmw’s, and my Macan SD to run Winter tyres.
I worked through a cunning plan, buying my SD in 2015 on 20 Sport designs, then later buying a 2nd set of 20” Sport Designs from my OPC with Michelin Alpins.
I found these Michelins REALLY good in the snow last winter, so would recommend them.

My cunning plan was then selling the original fit Sport designs, with worn out summer tyres, to a forum member here, who wanted 20ins rims to fit new winter tyres (he had 21’s, and Porsche don’t type approve 21ins winters on Macans.)
So he got an excellent rim set, with original fit TPM’s, and could choose his own winters

This helped fund my OPC purchase of a set of black 21 Classics.
I kept the Black 21” Classics when I part-exed the SD for a 3.5k mile Turbo at Dick Lovett.
I kept the 3.5k milage tyres of course 😁, DL swopped all the tyres around, as my own tyres were quite worn down. I just didn’t want the 21 ins Turbo style alloys.... I’m sure the sales exec thought I was crazy.

For those still with me & my epic alloy wheel fetish.... I’m now about to sell the OPC purchased 20 ins Sport Designs, with the Michelin Alpin Winters still fitted...
The front tyres are OK, but the rears are on about 2.5mm, & for me, I’d want new rears for winter snow...
( edit 30.9.18, now I have retrieved them - fronts c 6mm, rear c4.0mm.. Advert just placed in FOR SALE section )

I’m going to put up an advert in the Classified section here at the weekend after I’ve retrieved them from my garage loft, with photo’s and tread depths etc.

18 or 19s on full Winters might be even better than 20’s in proper snow - I can’t say.
I can say that in my back-to-back experience in the SD, I found that 20’s with Winters felt more secure in v low temps, and especially with standing water, than 21’s, and I found the 20’s excellent in real snow.
