Hi All,
My wife is currently looking for a Macan, at first a diesel but then Porsche and a member on pistonheads have advised against it as she does very short trips, i.e 4 miles to work.
Someone else said diesels are fine if you keep them at least 1/4 of fuel.
Just wondering what your thoughts are, will these short trips continuously block the DFP?
It seems very difficult to find a 2.0 at my wife's budget, be diesels are plentiful.
Advise appreciated. thanks.
Diesel vs Petrol - advise
1/4 tank if fuel is fine to allow dpf regeneration, but 4 miles twice a day is a “no” for a diesel engine; it won’t even start to get warm.
2000 miles a year commuting....why diesel (apart from the freedom of supply?)

Just search DPF problems on the forum and you'll have your answer. Go petrol for these few miles. Granted, you'll only get 20 mpg out of the car but at least you're driving it daily. The diesel will be at the OPC being fixed more often than notjayk wrote: ↑Sun Sep 23, 2018 6:52 pm Hi All,

Unless you are looking for a divorce I would suggest you stay away from diesel with that low mileage.
GTS
4 miles a day would hardly get a petrol engine warmed up. Have you considered a bicycle? or some nice shoes?
Used to have 2016 Macan Turbo PHCKCL70

I had a diesel Macan, I now have a petrol Macan, I am glad I made the change
4 miles and a diesel will not be warm, a petrol will be warmer but even then not up to temperature.
You will also find that Porsche have dropped all diesel engined model variants because of the bad press with the VW dieselgate saga. The engines used in Porsche diesels have been Audi units as is the engine in the 2.0 Macan.
I suggest you avoid a diesel Porsche even if it involves you having to buy an alternative marque.
Good luck with your search.
