I have just changed my LV policy from my eight year old Mercedes 3 litre diesel to a new GLC43. The increase for the four months to expiry was just £49 with all T&Cs the same - so theft excess of £300 (including £100 voluntary). I have always found LV very good value

Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 (3 litre, 367bhp) - in the end I went for that rather than a Macan S - sorry!

LV are generally excellent but don't come close to NFU for me with either the Cayman, Macan or 911. Prior to owning Porsche cars I always insured with LV.

I used to insure our cars with LV (good experience) until they became too expensive. Followed forum suggestions to enquire with Aviva. Got a better deal (than with LV) and moved. Have enquired with NFU for the last 2 years and they are just too expensive. Not by a small amount either. Geography might come into it, or that's my simplistic explanation. Over 30 years NCD (only 18 can be "claimed") so it's not my track record.

I think geography very much comes into it, Nosmo!
NFU wouldn’t even give me a quote! Clearly Swindon is not rural enough!?

And if you are too rural they may not want to insure you too.Wing Commander wrote: ↑Tue Oct 30, 2018 6:15 pm I think geography very much comes into it, Nosmo!

If only there was some consistency amongst them all would be helpful.

Picking up a brand new Seat Leon FR 2.0i tomorrow. LV are charging just £1.63 + £15.00 admin fee to change - bargin. Yet the new car is £18k list price more than the p/ex price of our current 4.5 year old identical 1.8ii model.
Insurance......go figure.
(In case you're wondering, got 20.6% off the RRP for a cash deal So cost to change £11k).

How fat are the profit margins when dealers can give discounts of 20% to 25%?!

If you are waiting for me Simon ()
...dealers have a tedious ability to give everything away in the hope of reaching their quarter / annual target..I suspect the Seat dealer will be working on a few assumptions of CSI and othet target acheivements in order to earn £300 per car registered, which he won’t actually get paid until well into the next month (or even the next quarter)
Chasing manufacturer targets is a never ending quest!
