Guess that's why there is an abundance of options, I always choose pan roofs but never open them, just like as much daylight as I can get into the cabin. A fixed glass top as LR would be fine by me.

I have it in my Cayman S and never use it. The engine response is pretty instant in normal mode and a quick flick of the steering wheel dial to sport sharpens things up for a quick overtake. On public roads you rarely travel for more than the odd minute or two at full revs and you can do that by controlling the gears yourself with the paddles

The little ‘party mode’ button is good fun though for those really quick overtakes. The button found in the centre of the steering wheel dial on the 718 gen vehicles

I love it anyway, have used it, and love knowing that it appeals to the inner hoon in me. It hardens the car up and elicits complaints from the other half who is sitting in the passenger seat. All good things.

If we're going to have a chat about useless bits and pieces, turn your attention to the £2k pano roof option in "sunny" UK. Can't get enough of people trying to justify their wastage on that!

Cannot say that I agree with Gman at least in what I have highlighted in bold.

Pano Roof, only benefit for me is that:-

1) it lightens up a very dark interior

2) it gets instant fresh air in quantity into the car very quickly, extremely usefull when Grandson has let one go in the back.

:o

Gordon’s explanation sounds very appealing, but my drivers license s more valuable to me than being able to shave off few 0.1 secs.

I think your point of the sunroof, which by the way is usually not great in hot countries (head burner  ), is a bit flawed. For me it is a must for the UK due to the dark winters and it helps brighten up the cabin so somehow works the opposite. A greater experience for the colder months especially with clear skies.

For the summer it works well as well as the sun is not too warm, and yes probably not much use open....

Still a must for me...helps kick out any winter blues

I agree on the sunroof... it’s a must have to uplift the spirit in a gloomy climate or weather. Sadly, the sky is less visible from the front seats, so my dogs will be the primary beneficiaries of the celestial view, but it should uplift the ambiance of the whole cabin.

I had a convertible when I lived in South Africa and I could take the roof down only in the morning and in the evening. During the day I would get incinerated in my own car [emoji51] We don’t have that issue in the UK, or Eurp for that matter. In fact I admire Brits taking the roof off at 10 deg celsius and enjoying the ride!

I do like the elevation note. For some reason I like to know how high above the sea level I happen to be when driving.
It's one of the tiles set up on my PCM home screen. :D

Just reading this weeks Autocar and one of the articles came up with another good reason for having a pano roof at this time of the year. It will make it much easier to spot Santa and his slay in a few evening time. Almost sorry I didn't spec one in the 911 now
