Insurance will be the death/restriction regarding autonomous - who is liable in the event of an 'incident'? Manufacturers won't want to be, owner/operators won't see why they should, end user has nothing to do with it etc.

Don't go thinking this is literally fully self driving, these are just minor sub-features like traffic light recognition and assisted navigation such as automatically moving your car into the correct lane to take a motorway split or exit. You are not going to be sitting in the back reading your emails while the car autonomously drives you to your destination.

Yes, I know, the headline and the actual content is somewhat different. At this stage releasing additional building blocks... but it will come sooner than you think [emoji3166]

Fully autonomous vehicles, outside heavily controlled environments, are eons away. Legal liability and insurance will see to that. Don't kid yourself...the legal complexities associated with this are tremendous.

Peteski, I can see a duel coming, but with all the British gentlemen traditions vilified by the liberals, we might have to resort to “handbags at noon on the Tower Bridge” [emoji38] [emoji12] [emoji41]

FSD has been a Tesla pipe dream for years now. Amazingly they've actually been able to sell it to a fair number of owners on the promise of an eventual release. But now they've back-tracked on their early bold claims of true FSD and actually ported some of the existing EAP features (Autopark, Summon and Nav on AP) into the FSD package to make it look like progress for new buyers!

As much as I love my Tesla, this FSD is complete BS. The only truly new feature here is simple traffic light recognition and that is a trivial step towards true FSD. Oh yeah and even that is not currently available yet.
