2019 Macan S - fuel consumption

Anyone have any views on how thirsty the new 3l engine in the S is likely to be? Or, more specifically, is there reason to believe that there's any significant improvement in efficiency from the previous 3l?

WLTP combined for the new 3l seems to be quoted at around 33mpg. Let's say WLTP is likely still to be 20% too optimistic which might give an overall real-world average of say 26mpg (or maybe 28mpg indicated). Of course it depends on journey length, driving style etc etc yawn etc.

But for someone without too heavy a right foot and a mix of longer and shorter journeys, what the the prospects of achieving 25+ mpg real-world? Tricky to answer I know, but opinions welcome.

Does anyone know a recent base Panamera owner with the same basic Audi engine? Their experience and comparing the Macan and Panamera WLTP figures would give some further help on the question although 2019 engines will have added a PPF.

On my Macan S, I am hoping for 25 mpg on local trips and up to about 35 on longer motorway/ dual carriageway runs. WLTP is meant to be more accurate but Porsche has yet to put final figures for either car on the website

I appreciate this may be of no help whatsoever (😳) but this is my GTS over the last 23000 miles.....you’d hope the new engine in the S would be no worse.....

Used by many on here, someone (apologies, can’t recall who) has it in his signature.

There's more than one of us I think, but does include me. Fuelly is a good app/site for keeping track of your own consumption (though I stopped a month or two back when I reached 23K or thereabouts - I'd established my long-term average for my SD at around 32mpg true and it wasn't really adding value any more).

But I find it much less useful for surveying consumption for other makes/models because for one thing Fuelly is international and specs and descriptions seem to vary from one country to another. But more importantly some owners seem to find it very difficult to specify the correct engine for their car and not infrequently either choose the wrong one or else - quite unnecessarily - invent a new engine description and so dilute the useful data.

I use it all the time and find it really interesting especially when I’ve done either a lot of motorway or town driving when the results can be vastly different

My Turbo's fuel consumption is so amazing, that when I went to my usual local Shell garage to fill up, it wasn't there any more. Not just closed, but nothing there at all. Just an empty lot !

OK, not useful to the OP's question, but I found it rather amusing.
