Had an unexpected run up to Wigan on Saturday, 220 miles round trip, literally 2 miles off the M42/M6 both ends. The strict speed control sections in the West Midlands and the miles of 50 average speed zones (upgrade to smart motorway areas) resulted in almost 43 mpg (on the dash), which was a bit of a surprise, as our Q5 2.0 can't beat 38 mpg, ever - result.

Here is the pic showing a trip to York las summer in my SD averaging over 60 mph:

Perhaps one of the reasons why Porsche sales were down last year with their best selling model - Macan SD - no longer available.

This is about the same MPG, I was getting on a run of about 550/600 miles per day, over a three/four day period, travelling to South Portugal and return, in my SD. I would be reluctant to photo the system, while driving in the UK. Ouch!!!!!

Having had my Macan SD now for a month I think the 3.0 V6 Diesel is an ideal match for the car. Loads of low-down grunt to waft you along, plenty quick acceleration, especially in Sport mode, quiet and relaxing to drive. And of course there's the superb fuel economy - back on topic ;)

When I was looking for a pre-owned Macan I dismissed the 2.0 petrol as not really being meaty enough. I'm surprised Porsche didn't up the power for the latest Macan - say something like 280bhp. I for one am kind of saddened the V6 Diesel is no longer available in the revised Macan - I do think Porsche have shot themselves in the foot somewhat.

If we're bragging about economy, I think this is pretty good, about 32 overall though.

No WLTP fuel consumptions figures for facelift Macan S or 911 Carrera S on the website yet but C02 figure both 205 implying not much difference in fuel consumption?

So if Macan owners getting heavier fuel consumption must be because they are travelling faster due to being able to see more from the higher driving position!!!!
