Macan Health Check Results

Post by RickZ » Thu Mar 14, 2019 5:19 pm

My 2017 Macan with 3388 miles on the clock has just been through a Porsche health check which shows front pads and disc worn 30% of the Porsche allowance and the rear Discs worn 20% whilst the rear pads are only worn 10% of the Porsche allowance. For a 2.0L SUV with under 4000 miles on the clock this wear seems excessive but more alarming is the rear discs wearing quicker than the pads considering all discs and pads must be the originals given the age and milage of my Macan.

On my last two BMW s, discs have worn before pads. This has happened since the removal of asbestos from brake discs. your relative wear rates of discs to pads is not unusual in my and my friends' experience and that of other car forums

^ Not necessarily. Another reason for inside edge wear is frequent driving over raised pads in 20mph zones.

RickZ - do you know the history of your car?

^^
the more plausible answer as the rears show similar wear pattern (and to be honest 1mm difference on ‘21s is nothing to be overly concerned about especially as it’s identical on all 4 tyres.)

Hi Nick, my OPC informed me it was a Porsche owned branch manager company car. I'm not sure if there's a way to confirm this. It will be interesting to see how tyre wear is during the first service in October, there are no raised pads on the roads local to me.

Just watched my video health check from 2017 when I had my last Macan SD serviced at 2 years and 16300 miles. The rear discs were 21.6 mm ( min 20mm) and pads 6mm and front discs were 33 mm (min 32mm - 50% worn ) pads 6mm.
