I wonder how many weeks Porsche have given dealerships before they have to pay for the market introduction vehicles. If it’s 3 months then they will be looking to get shut before the end of this month. Might be some deals to be had but in my mind a £60 k 2.0 needs to be discounted to £53k max.

I still can't understand why anyone would pay 60k plus for a Macan with a Golf GTI engine when you can get a really nice specced 3.0l for similar or less money which undoubtedly will be more desirable on the used market with stronger residuals.
I really think Porsche have made a mistake in retiring the very excellent 3.0l diesel as the 2.0l petrol just can't replace it in terms of fuel economy or torque.

+1. Especially when it does not seem too long ago that a new 911 was £60k !MacanArif wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 11:16 pm I still can't understand why anyone would pay 60k plus for a Macan with a Golf GTI engine when you can get a really nice specced 3.0l for similar or less money which undoubtedly will be more desirable on the used market with stronger residuals.

And there are lots of nice 991.1s to be had for less than £60k, including at Porsche Centres!mark-yorkshire wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2019 8:13 am +1. Especially when it does not seem too long ago that a new 911 was £60k !

I couldn’t agree more. Owning a Macan SD there’s no way I’d buy a mk2 2.0 in the future - it would by default be the 3.0S although only because there’s no longer an SD. I really think Porsche jumped out if the diesel market too early. I appreciate diesel is not Porsche heritage but primarily by sales volume they’re an SUV company now and getting shot of diesel for big heavy SUVs doesn’t make sense to me - not in Europe anyway.MacanArif wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 11:16 pm I still can't understand why anyone would pay 60k plus for a Macan with a Golf GTI engine when you can get a really nice specced 3.0l for similar or less money which undoubtedly will be more desirable on the used market with stronger residuals.

Perhaps it will all be moot when the hybrid petrol/electric or full EV power trains come on line. Until then I think Porsche should have kept diesel engines as an offering.
Autocar thinks so too: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=8443

I cannot really see the point in buying the 2.0 over the 3.0 S. The car's barely any cheaper and the MPG is quite similar. To me, it only makes sense if either the price or fuel economy is significantly different. There's a reason the original 2.0 was a 'special order' in the UK.
