Hello all.

My car is in for its first service tomorrow.
Will the OPC do a software update as part of the service or do I have to specifically request it?

Thanks.

You have to request it. I had mine done last month and they had to order the update in from Germany which comes in an SD Card. Took around 2 hours and was free.

I would also ask them to check if the transfer box is ok or should be replaced? I had mine replaced with the modified version. Again all part of the service.

Ask specifically what Service Campaigns there are on your GTS.

Its an odd name but it is what it is.

Its also worth keying your VIN number into the Porsche recall checker

https://recall.porsche.com/prod/pag/vin ... N?ReadForm

Just to see that any that your GTS has outstanding.

Thanks I will request the software update. Was your transfer box showing any signs of a problem? I will get them to check that too.

You may need to experience a “ problem” for them to apply the PCM software upgrade.
Its not done as a matter of course and they may not (I stress may not) do it on a mere request.
But if, say, your bluetooth connection had failed a few times in the last couple of months, or your radio station icons didn’t display properly, or if you had trouble changing the volume of nav announcements.......then all these faults might just be cured by the latest software.....😉

Maybe very early signs. I gave the symptoms to my OPC and to check if they feel there is an issue with the transfer box. They came back and said yes and replaced it.
I wanted the modified transfer box fitted before a possible bigger issue came about.

This should not be the case. The software upgrade adds new functionality as well as some fixes. So I see no reason why they would not upgrade it especially whilst in warranty.
From what I have been told it does not cost the OPC anything at all. Well a bit of their time but that’s what service is about imo.
I had no faults at all in just over 2 years.

I think the best thing to do is ask for this to be done whilst booking in a service. When you are paying money they generally want to keep you happy. Works for me....

The function I wanted was the volume bar on the PCM and also allows greater volume control over radio / Nav as she speaks.

So its a very long run around the country lanes enjoying the Boxster then?

If you take it back as clean as it looks in the images you have not been trying.

Give it some stick. :D
