From what you say it would be a waste of £800; unless you are prepared to put in the time and effort on a regular basis you won’t see any real benefits.

Road-side washes will keep your car in an acceptable condition (provided you choose wisely!)

You do need to take some care to maintain it. If you go to a hand car wash and they spray acid on the wheels and aggressive cleaner on the bodywork then you are going to quickly lose the effect so in that situation, I wouldn’t bother.

Thanks for the advice and I tend to agree - it sounds like a coating isn’t worth it for someone like me.

I’ve booked mine in for the full correction and ceramic coat mid Aug. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Hi all. I am taking this slightly off-thread.... what are people’s views on Gen3 Glasscoat? I am told this is a super hard-wearing coating that works really well. Applied by Porsche Sheffield for £400. Has anyone had any experience of this product ?
Thanks

My Macan GTS has this coating and it’s quite good I think. The car still looks good and is now just over a year old. It had already been applied to the car when we bought it.

Mine has it and at 2.5 years old it looks no different from any other 2.5 year old car I’ve ever owned. At the end of the day being applied at the dealer, it’s never going to be as good and a professional detailing outfit. Mine is now booked in for ceramic coating that takes 5 days, I wouldn’t expect the coating from the dealer to be anything like that.

Another question for those with Gtechniq CS Ultra and Exo. I understand from a detailer I am talking to that you need to have the paint work inspected annually by a Gtechniq accredited detailer to maintain the warranty. Mine has even told me that with the CS Ultra they will need to do an annual clay bar and iron fallout remover before quartz spraying at a cost of £120 per year. Do others do this? Sounds bit overkill to me...?

I will likely give my car an occasional wash and sometimes take it to the dreaded hand car wash people. I will try to use the ‘proper’ ones rather the really cheap and mass market ones, but none the less I imagine this is still against recommended advice for those who value near perfect paintwork maintenance.

I would however like to protect the car from the worst of the elements and anything that makes it easier to clean is a good thing. I like the slick exterior look and the extras cited e.g. mitigating colour transfer to leather is attractive (I will have pebble seats!).

I repeatedly read that treatment like Gtechniq requires semi-skilled upkeep maintenance (i.e. more than I currently do on my current car).

Would you guys recommend Gtechniq (or indeed any other product) for someone in my position or would the benefits be lost on me? Would I be just fine with the car as it comes?
I'm afraid that nothing will protect your new car from the ravages of hand car wash people! Gtechniq would be a complete waste of your money if you're going to let Eastern Europeans scour the paintwork with a gritty cloth.

I have Pebble seats, and use Dr Leather's Advanced Leather Wipes to keep the seats looking good. These microfibre wet wipes get rid of any slight blue staining from denim jeans. After almost 2 years, my seats still look great.
