I did consider it but at 260 miles I’m not sure that would have been the case. I didn’t really have time. It was 4pm, around 5.5 hours to get there and 5 hours to get back and I had to leave at 4am for Gatwick. And I had to pack. And I would have had to spend 5.5 hours waiting outside at a closing race circuit with no phone and no clothes apart from my race suit!

So in hindsight it may have been better to break the rear passenger glass? A quick search shows them listed at about £100, and if anything like most cars it's a quite simple task to fit.

Financially, I suspect so. Only problem there is that you end up with glass inside the door and it rattles until you take off the door card etc to get it all out. I notice that the front quarter light is a unit as well.

I could fit it myself but pulling trim out is a bit of a nightmare unless you have replacement clips to hand.

Without doubt the cheapest option would have been to go to the nearest police station, find out the name of the local car thief, hire the thief and his equipment (OBD Port or Relay Attack devices) depending on the type of entry system your vehicle has, and be assured in knowing you’ll be in your vehicle within seconds.

Just make sure that whilst accessing your vehicle said thief is not cloning the key :D

Car went into Porsche Byfleet / Brooklands today and the window was replaced with no issues and good service. As I pulled up in the car park I tried to close my tilted sunroof and it wouldn't move so I asked them to look at that as well! A re-calibration of the end stops and it's working again.

£200 cheaper than OPC Guildford as well.

£772. Bargain :-).

Part was £342.45 + VAT = £411. It says that Labour was discounted 25% from the normal rate.

👍👍

Next time....check jacket, check jacket and then check jacket.....then lock car! 😂😂

(Did a similar thing when picking up a new Kart rolling chassis in my Mum’s Maxi back in the mid / late ‘80s......loaded up etc etc, hunted high and low for the car keys for over an hour.....they were in the hatch boot lock, 6 ft up in the air and hidden from sight...😳)

Lesson learnt .. I put a bag in the boot of a Scirocco which contained the keys years ago after a very boozy stagg weekend in Keswick.. shutting the boot locked it..120 miles from home.. contemplated smashing the rear window .. but ended up getting a lift home, getting the spare then driving back to keswick with angry wife, opening the car then driving back home .. 360 miles in a day heavily hung over ... I am very careful now .. 😀😀
