Petrol tank on handover
Care to share? Porsche are notoriously tight-fisted when it comes to deals so I think everyone would be interested to know how well you managed to negotiate and how you did it. Fully understand if you want to keep it to yourself, though

Not so. Tyres are designed to run at their maximum pressure provided within the tyres maximum loading.Tom 2000 wrote: ↑Sat May 11, 2019 11:02 pmMy local tyre man told me that max pressures cause chunks to break off the tyres.Wing Commander wrote: ↑Sat May 11, 2019 10:36 am ^^^ Seems that Porsche often pump up tyre pressures to the max! I’ve recently reduced my pressures to part load/comfort and it feels much better.
Unless the manufactured tread compound did not meet the QA standard in the factory [unlikely], or it has been contaminated post production in service [e.g. battery acid etc], or run overheated [ very low tyre pressures etc], or the rubber has become significantly aged [extreme sunlight / ozone contamination/ over than 10 years in service on the vehicle etc]. These are all very rare occurrences that would cause chunking in my experience.

I was after a mid size SUV to suit my lifestyle. Was about to pull the trigger on a x3 m40i with a healthy discount, I contacted the Porsche SE as our family have dealt with him for years when he was at BMW (my father recently passed and I wanted to tell him) he said call for a coffee.. I did but thought the Macan was out if my league.. he basically talked me in to one (residuals ect) but I said it was a bit out of my reach.. he rang me and said he could move on price a little and offer me some free services (GAP,Smart repair, tyre and wheel insurance etc.) anyway after a bit of too and fro I got a 4 figure discount, 3 years GAP, 3 years Smart repair and 3 years tyre / wheel insurance. They originally talked of ceramic coating but I am getting that done myself. A good friendly negotiation, from my initial "Porsche don't discount Sir, to a more realistic deal"

Maybe Porsche are just playing safe, by setting the tyre pressure at the max (full load and non-comfort) as they can’t be sure in advance how the car will be used?SAC1 wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2019 5:05 pmNot so. My Carrera T is currently on part-load & comfort setting. 29 and 31 psi.
Whereas full-load, non-comfort pressures 34 and 44 psi, so quite some difference!
I just can’t exceed 165mph!

WLTP has a lot to answer for. The highest mpg comes now with the highest recommended tyre pressure settings. Also these provide the quickest steering response. No longer, it seems, are they just the maximum load pressure.
The new part load pressures, in many instances, were the previous "normal" ones.

Dammit Simon, why would you let the tyre pressures down if it has that limitation?! What use is that?Wing Commander wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2019 7:05 pmMaybe Porsche are just playing safe, by setting the tyre pressure at the max (full load and non-comfort) as they can’t be sure in advance how the car will be used?SAC1 wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2019 5:05 pmNot so. My local tried the "porsche don't do discounts" so we went further afield. They screwed us on part ex too. Theres definitely discounts in the thousands to be had if you're willing to travel.T4LGO wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2019 5:58 pmI was after a mid size SUV to suit my lifestyle.
