My old Macan Turbo that was stolen and totalled, has been put back on the road.
The new keeper has contacted me to find out where the service book is. Now this may be completely innocent, but it may be used in future to pass the car off at sale time.
Now my insurance company paid out >£60k rather than repair it, so I’m just posting this with pictures and the reg, to make sure no one gets duped in the future

Sorry to see your Turbo, Wilko! And thanks for heads-up!

This is a smart use of the forum, as Google will index your post and it will be visible to anyone that would be inquisitive enough to search!

Good to know. Just out of interest, how was it stolen? Did the toe rags have access to the keys, or possibly using a scanning grabber to duplicate the key.

It was stolen by breaking into the house and stealing the keys.
Never bought a keyless car and don’t ever intend to.
It was over six months ago now, so I’m over it, but I never expected it to get back on the road.
I hoped google would pick it up with the Reg in the title, so that no one gets burnt in future.

Some young delinquents broke in, and took keys to mine and the wife’s car. Mine was moved off drive to allow older organised crimes to take hers away. Golf r stolen to order.
Delinquents returned later to take mine for joyride. Got just over a mile before they totalled it and a lot of others that they hit.
Driver legged it, leaving three passengers injured. They were taken to hospital, but no one was ever prosecuted, and I’m fairly sure the injured ones claimed off my insurance for their injuries.
“We didn’t realise it was stolen”, which seems to be the standard get out for the passengers in stolen cars.
No one was ever prosecuted for the theft of mine.
The guy who had the wife’s, or was in charge of it when found went down for firearms and drugs offences, but they tagged on theft of the golf, but I’m as sure as I can be that he just received it.
Thankfully the little scrotes, and the ones in the car they were racing with were quite badly injured, but no innocents were hurt.

The law is buggered on this one, as unless they can link drivers to house breaking, the penalties for twoc are minimal. “I found it in the street with the keys in it” is the standard defence.

Hi Wilko,
Please ignore the PM, I see the reg

Please see the salvage report here.....
https://www.vcheck.uk/report/BF66UST-9OBTGIO/

The car is still untaxed, so is most likely still being repaired.
The chap who came up with this is passionate about stamping out the hidden history of these cars.

There is a VERY strong possibility, that your old car will come up for sale for top money, with a clean HPI

Loads of extra pictures here. What a bloody mess they made!
