There’s a lot to be said for keeping the car long term. Our tip car, a Toyota Verso was bought new in 2005 for around £16k as I recall, now has 130k miles on it and still going strong; value in P/ex prob £400. But it has done sterling service, only had one clutch change and a front drive shaft broke at around 80k miles. Otherwise it has been great. I’m not sure the latest drive by wire machinery we all like will be in such a good state in 15-20 years time.......

Yes trade in prices are silly at dealers. Still you could be trading in a Mercedes or BMW which is even worse. I am going to keep my car for now as don't really fancy anything else apart from a 992 911 but my budget doesn't stretch that far.

Look on the bright side it could be an EV..................................... now, they do depreciate...............

Some brands do hold up values better than others with a few appreciating exceptions, such as limited runs that are like hens teeth to acquire new, the standard is the more you pay the more you lose. Agree with earlier comment, most Porsche’ lose four figures a month unless you want to take the long haul i.e ten years but then factor in the service and repair costs and dependant on miles and cost of potential repair you may well be back to equalling a more regular change say 3 to 5. Bottom line, if you want to lose less money overall buy a cheaper but reasonable “nearly new car” in the first instance and either keep until it dies or rotate at 3 year intervals. Alternatively say sod it YOLO and spend it if you have it, once of course you’ve sorted out the family, their children, etc etc

So, at £1,200 pcm, this is currently the worst depreciation of the 4 Porsche ('s?) I have owned. At least the 116610 LV is looking good on Watchfinder!

I've got one too, bought in 2017 before the prices went silly. I also have a GMT2 BLNR, worn once and currently 14k on Watchfinder.

I have the same watch..... value is crazy

Its amazing how many of us have the same watch, I bought mine in 2016, stock watch at local dealer. You can't get any of these sports steel watches any where in the world now, I check in every country I visit!

Of course, all this is based upon the past when the Macan has been a vehicle where demand exceeded supply. that demand excess has varied and with the WLTP delays probably increased from this time last year to this March and the start of deliveries of S facelifts. During this period, I watched the asked for prices of nearly new vehicles especially GTS's rise. Now there are signs supply exceeds demand. Look on the Porsche used listings and you will see OPC's have between probably 10 New S 's unsold at nominal mileage. Member's of this forum actually buying such cars with £1000 to £2000 discount rather than waiting for a factory order they were about to place. There are also a considerable number of GTS's for sale at up to 3 years old

Ref PX prices - I have had a disussion about this with my SE, Porsches currently around 14 / 15 months old should be at a premium come PX time around now or during the next 12 months due to the production shutdown last year.

Watches, I bought an Omega Seamaster in 2008 never had it serviced and PX'd it against a Rolex last year and made £400 on my original purchase price.
