See Paul’s thread “PSE” about the 911 exhaust system design (perhaps some tech expert can link/ref the other thread).

I believe it can be safely extrapolated to Macan!
So now you believe me?

Never understood those comments about piped noise from PSE

My PSE on gen 1 turbo is great, plenty of crackles on he overrun but none of the OTT pops and bangs you get on some cars and IMHO is not in keeping with an SUV however sporty.

You can hear the noise increase when you press the button but not artificially in the cabin, don’t find it boomy either

Nick, I always wanted to believe you, but the alternative theory was posted by Col (if I recall correctly) whom I equally respect.
Also, most posts on any forum are opinions. Posts with authoritative references have more cred.

We still don’t have a document on Macan PSE (we have one for 911), but on balance I am inclined to accept it.

Would be good to get a Workshop/Service Manual for Macan, we could easily verify it!

But what is an actuator? Something that moves to open a flap or something that moves to actually generate the sound?

My posts were not 'opinion', if you followed the thread you would see that I was quoting from the Porsche parts list for the Macan. You'd also see that I asked others for the sources of their statements but usually there was no response.

Here are two screenshots from the parts list. The first is the sports exhaust. Item 12 are the two actuators that open the flaps. The second is for the standard Turbo, but is the same for the S, GTS, and Turbo PP although there are different tailpipes for the other variants. Item 8 is the single actuator.

So far I haven't been able to see any reference in the parts list to any bodywork attachment or speaker.

See my previous post. The reference to actuator in the wiring diagram I believe are the servos that operate the exhaust flaps.

I get lovely pops and crackles, but only if I accelerate foot-to-the-floor from low speed.

Apologies Nick, didn’t mean to offend you, I have not read all related posts, Tapatalk (App) doesn’t have the best search capabilities.
We all want the authoritative answer... would be good to get a Service Manager on the line with a manual and electric diagram.
