Over a 100 mile speed restricted M1 round trip today - I got nearly 59mpg on the way up and 49mpg on the way back. I understand the OBC is optimistic but STILL...! (Mine has 22k on the clock - only ever use Shell fuel and have tried the V power recently).

That’s good, what was the average speed?

My SD’s MFD read 10% more than actual.

Probably 50 mph. If one has to travel at that speed, if it can be called speed, it better be economical.

Wow! I must try a Shell fill up, I have been using the BP premium for a while but this was on a tank of CO OP special .

about right, 40000 miles average 42 mpg, mainly A and B roads.

how lucky (clever) are we to have kept a diesel?

Absolutely :D
Just did return trip from Aberdeen to Southampton for IOW Festival last week. Photo is of the return journey odemeter, brimmed it with Shell v-Power Diesel as we left Southampton - c.560miles and still saying 137miles in the tank - that was with a couple of heavy footed moments when the road cleared as well.
I am looking to upgrade to a Caynenne and the mpg difference is eye-watering even if you take a punt on a e-hybrid unless you drive like an angel you are going to be in the low 30s at best
Might have to ditch the badge and look at alternatives as my daughters are now 11 and 15 and the back of the Macan is becoming a bit cramped for them - any suggestions on what alternatives I should be looking at instead? (p.s. not quite ready to go full electric yet)

TIA Les

In my diesel BMW days, I found BP Premium diesel better than Shell V power, had higher Cetane value than V Power.

Care had to be taken about which Garages were used for fuel purchase as the "Premium" above ordinary diesel varied substantially.
