In the last few months, I've had a number of calls from Vodafone telling me that my car's been stolen, even though I've been sitting happily in the car with the little Vodafone fob on my person. Is this just a random problem, or is the Vodafone system flawed?

If the battery goes flat in the fob then their system thinks that the fob is not in the car. You can buy replacement batteries at most shops.
So when is this ‘old enough to know better’ supposed to kick in ?

Battery was replaced a few months ago. Little red light is flashing happily.

My car used to be regularly "stolen" by my wife. She kept her fob in the depths of her handbag and the car could not "see" it. Have a think about where you keep the fob. Also, false alarms can happen in multi-story car parks.

If the battery in the fob is low then you get a warning in the PCM screen in front of the driver saying exactly that.

I've had 10-15 false alarms over four years. Not enough for me to think the system is flawed but enough for me to say it's not faultless.

Had one false alarm after parking on the low level of a multi storey. Otherwise ok.

Obviously not flawless but could be worse. The Nissan GTR one was always ringing telling me that it had been stolen and was doing 30 mph when I was.looking at the damn thing parked on the drive!

I'd rather get a false alarm call than not know it had been nicked. Had two calls in 18 months, 1 due to dud fob battery.

Always been fine for me. Sometimes I forget the fob, see the alert on the dash and then go and get it before I set off.

Had the low battery warning this morning. Message actual says "driver's card battery empty please replace."

Got my Macan (2nd hand) only a few days ago and this message comes on. How can I disable it or transfer it over to me? I'm not with Vodaphone.
