The TPMS sensor can take many miles to reset themselves. After removing them to have my summer wheels re-furbished and painted (in VG) I noted that the sensors/senders were standard VW items. So when I needed a set for new winter wheels I fitted a generic set for half the price of OEM. These were supplied and fitted by my local tyre fitter, as were the new winter tyres. The generic TPMS registered in less than a mile, the OEM ones took well over 8 miles, as I recall. If you want an 'expert' to fit tyres, look for STS Tyre Pros, they have some centres that specialise in fitting high performance tyres and sometimes good offers on Pirellis. If you have any doubt about a TPMS, good tyre fitters, like mine, will have a small electronic reader that picks up the signal from the sensor and shows the pressure and temperature of the tyre by placing it near the TPMS valve, which could save you a lot of trouble and expense.
