It is amusing as somebody stated above how that happens on forums and I could probably guilty of it myself
When I had a RS4 (B8) and the B9 came out I test drove it and said no way am I changing mine for that - not worth the extra to go backwards V8 to V6, same with the 981S and 718S were ultimately both had moved on over their predecessor.
Of course in my case I blew the spending extra out of the window on both occasions by spending more on each replacement and about to do it again when I ditch the AMG for the 992
Gen 2 Macan S or Gen 1 Macan GTS
992 is okay but surely a 430 Cup would be more funTracky wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2019 5:29 pm It is amusing as somebody stated above how that happens on forums and I could probably guilty of it myself

Yep, but if only one could stretch to this EV with 2000hp, horrendously expensive but maybe first show of things to comeTracky wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2019 11:29 pmLotus ?MikeM wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2019 9:54 pm992 is okay but surely a 430 Cup would be more funTracky wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2019 5:29 pm It is amusing as somebody stated above how that happens on forums and I could probably guilty of it myself

Mine isn’t far off that spec and didn’t cost me £110k for a plastic bath tub!
As for the new whatever you call it, very nice, I’m just about £1.75m short !
If you squint a bit it is very similar in many ways to my Leaf !

We've lost track. The original question is about a pre-facelift GTS versus a facelift S. This is a very different question to say a pre-facelift S versus a facelift S. In that case, given a choice between them, of course almost everyone would have a preference for the facelifted model.
Back to the original question then. Simon was asking what we would take between a pre-facelift GTS and facelift S. In my case, that answer was easy. I had that choice and I took the GTS. There's absolutely no way I'd rather have a facelift base or S in preference. I would of course prefer a facelift GTS - but it doesn't exist yet.
We also need to remember this is a slight facelift. We're kidding ourselves if we think the pre-facelift is 'older looking' and 'dated' in comparison. The generation 2 Macan will be announced in the next year or so. When that happens, we can comment on the generation 1 Macan looking dated...

Well is it though ?
What is the difference between gen 1 and gen 2 for example in the 911 range - visually only slight cosmetic changes
Sometimes significant mechanical changes but not always
I see this as a gen 2 and the new one will have completely different model designation thing 996>997>991>992

The current model is the 'first generation' Macan. As with other cars, generations tend to have 'updates' every year, and a 'facelift' half way through its lifetime.Tracky wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2019 10:29 am Well is it though ?

The next model is the 'second generation' Macan.
