I’ve just swapped my beloved Boxster 981 for a Boxster 718 GTS and have to say that although the engine doesn’t sound as nice the overall package is better. The interior is improved and the extra torque is great. So far I’m pleased that I changed. Every Porsche dealer I talked to said that they had heard nothing about a 718 6 but then I suppose they would at this stage.VanB wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2019 2:26 pm I had a Cayman S (981) before the Macan GTS and it was the best handling car I've ever owned despite being RWD. These cars are very precise, nimble and quick and it was never upset in the wet even when pushing on a bit. I don't like the sound much of the 4 pot engine but a friend of mine has a 718 GTS after having a 6 pot N/A and says that the extra torque more than makes up for the sound and couldn't be happier. HTH.

Rab,
All I have seen are rumours about a possible 6-cylinder ‘Touring’ 718 to slot between the GTS and the GT4/Spyder.
Anyone got source/links for confirmed 6-cylinder 718 GTS...?

Like the OP intends to, I moved from a Macan to a 718 CGTS. I didn't ever try any other car so can't make the comparison against the F-Type or otherwise.
The 4 pot banger is astonishing. The torque delivery early on as well the in-gear elasticisty is something to behold. As GTIPirelli states in an earlier post, engine noise is lost in the light application of the sound insulation, especially on UK roads. In town, in sports mode the burble, pop and crackle is amusing. At motorway speeds on the continent, the wind noise also drowns out the sound. It's still quite enough for a conversation.
The Cayman has a remarkable amount of luggage space, there is a good thread on a dedicated 718 Forum on which someone recently posted a couple of pictures of a road trip including one where he shows the amount of luggage swallowed up by the car - https://www.718forum.com/threads/euro-t ... ost-179314-
I am over 6"1 and fit comfortably for a 5 hour trip. I have the 18 ways seats which are firm and supportive but don't become painfull during a long trip.
Visibility out of the sides, especially on angled junctions is sometimes difficult unless you position your car at the opposite angle to the road you're entering. There will probably be a geometrical word for it.
Fuel consumption on longer stretches will be around 34 - 37mpg. I have a very heavy right foot, an affliction which has gotten worse since acquiring the 718. Short distances and town driving will give you somewhere around 27mpg.
Insurance (for me with a named second driver) is around £380 per year with protected no claims.
Anything else, have a look on the 718 forum (above) or ping me a PM.

Never heard it called a massive barge? Are you thinking of the F-Pace?
