Yes, we've got new people opposite - with an RRS and a Disco Sport. Pah!

Does everyone declare their factory-fitted extras in their insurance? I did with the Macan as I was told to declare both factory-fit options and modifications. However it's something insurers don't make brilliantly clear. They usually caveat it by saying you should mention everything just in case. Hoping I'm not the only person who declared privacy glass, sunroof, roof rails, cosmetic changes (e.g. door handles), leather/alcantara interior and so on.....

With Porsche extras the replacement cost goes up..

I just declare the total cost of the vehicle unless they specifically ask.
I'm sure they're bright enough to know the base price of a vehicle and anything above that will be for extras.

Is it down to intelligence though or to do with saying you weren't being transparen? I reckon you'd win with the ombudsman but these guys try to get out of paying up.

If they ask I will tell them. If they don't I would assume it is not of importance to them.
How far can you reasonably go with transparency?

That's why I look to an insurer with a good reputation and customer feedback.

AE recently did a feature on insurers and had a quote from a customer of NFU who said they fully paid him out after he wrecked his vehicle after he had it towed left in first gear! I bet there are many insures who would have found a way out of that one.
