After market 21” or 22” alloy wheels

I have a macan s on order (nov) and I will be changing the alloy wheels from the base model 18” s wheels to either 21” or 22” after market. Two that I have come across are Riviera wheels (pics below). Looking for some opinions and also recommendation on the best tyres to go for. I usually use Pirelli’s.

Personally, I’d stick with Porsche 21” 911 Turbo wheels in preference to either of the above.

Presumably the OP didn't want to shell out £3200 for Porsche 21" turbo alloys and after market are much cheaper option?

I'd have to see them on the car, however tend to agree most non-Porsche alloys look pretty awful

^^^ Well, the OP did ask for opinions, so I gave mine. That’s what forums are for, I believe.

Paying for a set of new 21” or 22” non-Porsche wheels may not save much when you add the cost of the tyres, fitting, balancing etc, plus the potential negative affect on the car’s future value, unless the 18s are kept in storage. Obviously if the 18s are sold, that could affect the total net cost too...

And if the original wheels are kept, selling an S on 18” wheels could be a challenge in itself...

And if the non-Porsche wheels do actually end up costing a lot less, what quality are they and are they up to the same safety standards as OEM spec wheels?

IMHO the only after market wheels that look OK on a Porsche are the ones that cost even more than the OEM versions.
The wheels this chap is looking at are certainly some of the better looking value wheels I've seen, so you pays your money and takes your chance. Would 22" wheels have any room left for tyres at all though?

Those are some of the cheapest 22” wheels that will ‘fit’
I know oem is actually a look some people don’t want, but I’d at least stick to a 21” with an N rated tyre perhaps?

I’ve made mods before and taken the risks with factory BMW warranties. For me, BMW dealers tend to be fairly open and look the other way re modest changes.

I don’t think the same can be said about Porsche!
The issue for me, would be PORSCHE washing their hands of the entire drivetrain, brakes and suspension warranty.
The new combo will not perform the same, due to strength, weigh/inertia, possible offset / geo difference, brake cooling capabilities, hub fitment and crash safety.

Also, if the car is financed with VW finance, take care, as there is a ‘Zero modifications from oem’ clause, which if breached can trigger a request for immediate balance payment in full

I agree with above, in that the wheels that look better than oem, tend also to cost more. These wheels will / should be lighter and stronger than oem, so even though the warranty still goes, the car will be as safe.

Did you plan this from the outset?
What was your thinking behind the decision?

If you must get 21 or 22" wheels, I'd go for the former for better handling. Porsche don't offer 22" wheels on the Macan, and there's probably good reason for that. Your wheel choices look similar in design to the RS Spyder wheels. So one option would be speccing the Porsche ones, but getting Porsche (or someone else) to paint in black. I'm biased of course, but think the Porsche RS Spyder wheels look the business!! The aftermarket ones don't look as good in my view. You're likely to mess up Porsche's fine tuned handling, ruin the car, decrease resale value, and potentially cause warranty issues.

The reason for the after market wheels is purely to be different. I much prefer (my opinion) a wheel like the above to what Porsche had to Offer. And obviously the ridiculous prices goes without saying!
