I think Porsche could be more transparent on the routine servicing regime.

Everything you read suggests Porsches are on a two year / 20,000 mile regime - expensive costs but mitigated by only needing biennial attention. So I was a bit surprised when I purchased by 2 litre Macan back in 2016, to find it needed additional intermediate oil change services after year 1, year 3 etc. I put this down to a quirk of the 2 litre engine.

So it was with some surprise and disappointment looking at the PCM of my new 2019 Macan S, to find it’s the same as the 2 litre i.e. I will have to budget for an unexpected extra £300 at end of year 1, year 3 etc.

I don’t do anything unusual in terms of annual mileage by the way - around 8,000 miles/year.

The online Porsche fixed price servicing information has never mentioned these intermediate oil change services. The top of their page says:

“Total transparency. Clear service pricing from Porsche.”

I think not!

Add in to that that not all OPCs subscribe to Porsche fixed price servicing and it becomes even less clear. There is a £600 difference in service cost between Reading and Swindon. Needless to say I will drive the 40 miles to Swindon for my service

I actually like having an annual oil and filter change. It's what I've always done with other cars. 2 years seems like quite a long time.

I however don't like paying the £300 - £500 for basically an oil change. Not that long ago I used to do oil changes myself for less than £20.

How odd, in both my Macan SD and the Turbo the oil change was required every 2 years / 20,000 miles, no sooner. [emoji848]

I wonder if it’s to do with where the engines are sourced from i.e. whether they are “Porsche” engines or have come from somewhere in the VAG group? The VAG engines perhaps needing the more frequent servicing?

As mentioned previously, my 2017 Panamera 4, with a V6 3.0 petrol engine asked for (and got) a £300 oil change after only 10k miles. It then indicated that it would need another oil change at the 20k service. I never did get a completely satisfactory explanation from the people at the OPC. Especially as the Panamera mileage was virtually all long journeys with very few short trips. Luckily my Carrera T was happy to wait until its 20k mile service for its first oil change.

correct oil and filter available on line for less than £60, then just find a local garage VAT registered to change say £50, job done

I've just double checked my car and it says another year to the minor service, which will be two years from new. It's another two years again to the major service.

Porsche quote £575 for the first two-year minor service, then £1,250 for the four-year major service. This averages £456 a year, which I suppose is reasonably expensive. This is for a GTS, but other models are in the same ballpark.

My Oct 17 SD is definitely showing 2 years for minor service and oil change? it's going in next month, so I will check the computer afterwards to see if that regime has changed?
