Have fitted them to mine just on front for winter periods (removed easily) - they certainly help stop throwing all the dirt and salt/grit over the lower front doors. Had PPF put on same quarter panel as mud flap and on side blades panels which also helps prevent stone chip damage. My rear lower section is unpainted (black plastic) so much less of an issue.

Do you have to drill the metalwork?

Had ‘em on mine since new Pacemaker so can’t say what would’ve been like without them!

No need for drilling anything as ones I got on eBay (from China) had holes in right places for existing screws 👍

No drilling for fronts for sure - uses just the 2 existing screws in liner - one at top and one below. 3M tape can help prevent movement and rubbing if required.

Be careful of the rears they can damage the paintwork as they move about in use. I suggest using some double sided sticky tape where they touch paintwork to stop them moving.

Side steps are the best mud flaps ever invented - a bit lat now though...

Found on another site and believe the 'hole' in the front flap is meant for a screw drilled into metalwork.
Nice to know they fit without this though 👍

So do they do enough to prevent water spray etc down the sides?

WARNING!
Thanks to the post above saying the fronts can be fitted without drilling it appears this is not always the case!
Items online appear to come in two types. Plain back and striped back. It looks like only the striped ones don’t require drilling as the have the extended tab to meet the oem screw.

I remember it being like that 3 yrs ago when I got mine. Made sure I ordered striped ones and didn’t have any issues 👍
