Service intervals - impact of low mileage

No it isn't, it's good practice. The condition-based monitoring system assesses the need for a change based on the type of driving. Impurities generated by the combustion process accumulate in the oil and only some of it, mainly solids, can be contained in the filter. Water can be flashed off on long runs but acids can remain and will only be removed by an oil change.

Update after speaking with my OPC Service department in Tewkesbury, albeit their telephone answering staff are based in an office in the Porsche centre in Cardiff - I'm advised that the Dick Lovett group offer fixed price servicing, so my early oil change, due in March 2020 because of the low mileage/short journeys, will cost £300 (£90 labour, their labour charge is £130per hour, £160 for 9ltrs oil, £50 Oil Filter/sump plug), then when the first interim service is carried out at the 2yrs mark (in November 2020), they will not change the oil again and reduce this service cost by £300 so instead of paying £525 I will only pay £225. The Macan engine monitoring system will then decide when the next oil change is due, probably sometime in 2021 and before the next 2yrs service in 2022.
A bit of a faff but keeps all the engine parts under full Porsche warranty if both the oil change and interim service are carried out when prompted by the car.
How are other low mileage Macan owners finding this? How does the Dick Lovett pricing compare with other Porsche groups I wonder?
Robbie

Hi Robbie,
I think Dick Lovett prices are on a par with other OPCs. As always, there’s no harm in trying to haggle, as I found out recently.
Beware that your car might still want an oil change at the service date or shortly thereafter. I had a 2017 Panamera 4. It asked for an oil change at 10k miles and then indicated that it would have wanted another oil change at the 20k service. (I traded it in at one year old, having done 17k miles in it.)
Cheers,

Porsche fixed price servicing is significantly less expensive than some OPCs charge and my experience of Porsche Swindon (Dick Lovett) was extremely positive

My wife's Macan bought second-hand in Sept 2019, will be 3 years old in March 2020 and I'm intending to have its oil changed along with MOT. My current 981S always has the oil changed alternating with service intervals. Also, I supply my own oil too.
