Holding down the tailgate open button in the door does close the tailgate for us.
However, a long press on the key fob button does not work.

'22 Macan S, GB, 14W/XL, AAS, PA/SV, ACC, LCA, PG, HF/RS, VFS, EETS, 75L, etc, etc.
No update involved, it's always been possible on mine and it makes a good beeping noise to warn people to keep clear as it closes.

It does indeed, but makes you wonder why the SEs are seemingly unaware of this

If i recall directly, my 2013 Cayenne Diesel (MY2014) was the first version of that car to have this feature. It has been there on both my Macans. Not that I use it very often.

A long press of the key fob used to close the tailgate on my old SD, that doesn’t seem to work on the GTS of the same MY. I wonder if it’s something to do with entry and drive? The SD never had that and the GTS does.
June 2017 Macan GTS in Carmine red with 21” gloss black sport classics, GTS leather package, Air, PASM, PDLS+, pano roof, Sports Chrono, 18 way seats, BOSE, surround view, heated seats front and rear, carbon side blades and carbon interior package.
I think it just opens or closes the little vent built into the dial, but I may be mistaken.
