Depends on how "fussy" you are about your car too.

I wouldn't be keen on taking my Porsche to a couple of my local garages

I really don't want damaged wheels or oily marks on my interior...

Kmas wrote: Wed Feb 26, 2020 12:21 pm Hi all. I’ve just been into Porsche for a software update, typical up selling of things I don’t need. God love em.

My tyres are in 3.1mm back and 3.4/3.7 front. Quoting over £400 for front replacements each and over £200 each for back. Can’t recall if this includes labour. He said unless I use Porsche approved tyres it will invalidate any warranty extension I may buy ( it’s still under warranty until sept this year). My question, is this actually the case, does anyone recommend cheaper tyres that are Porsche approved, or is that all sales patter and any will do?

Thanks!! First time Porsche owed and a girl that knows nothing about cars!
A warm welcome

What rim size is fitted to your Macan? 18, 19, 20 or 21"?

I understand that Michelin have a promotion starting 1st March whereby you can claim up to £100 back. You apply for it on-line and all they need is proof of purchase. They then send you a pre-paid Visa card.

I assume it's available for purchases from Black Circles and the like, but in any case, the rebate is in addition to whatever price you can negotiate, so it's well worth factoring in to whatever quote you get.

I wouldn't be taking my cheap run around never mind the Porsche to somewhere they were going to damage rims and dirty the interior. The local guys I use are ultra careful and I'm sure there are similar shops in most towns. It might take a little detective work to find them but well worth it if its going to save you hundreds

Ach now, sure that’s a wee joke.

Scotch most commonly refers to: Scotch (adjective), a largely obsolescent adjective meaning "having to do with Scotland" Scotch, old-fashioned name for the indigenous languages of the Scottish people: Scots language ("Broad Scotch") Scottish Gaelic ("Scotch Gaelic")

Thanks again all. Haven’t worked out how to reply to the specific questions..here goes!

Re size difference. Your guess is as good as mine, first I heard of it was today. No idea why they should be different sizes. Anyone have any idea?! It’s the fully loaded model so has all the 4x4 and sport features. Might this make a difference?

The wheels are 21s I think, the 10 split spoke sporty ones.

I’m in Leeds and there is a super good local garage I’ve used for years, Sultas. They are an old VW head of service team who went independent. I think they take special care of the prestige cars they get in as it demonstrates how respected they are. They did my interim service and stamped the service log etc. I’d trust them with it implicitly, plus it’s great to support a small local business. Check them out if you’re local.

Kmas - if you look on the sidewall of the tyre, you will see something written on there which will be like 245/40 ZR 20 or similar. This refers to the size of the tyre, the width and aspect ratio. Fronts and rears will be different.

As an added complication, some cars came with all season tyres on them, some with summer tyres. Perhaps you could take a pic of both sidewalls and post that on here and the gurus will scour the internet for a good deal for you.

You can have any tyre outfit put new tyres on for you, it doesn't have to be Porsche. As long as you fit Porsche approved tyres you will not invalidate the warranty. NO on the tyrewall means it is Porsche approved, the tyre manufacturer spends millions obtaining this approval, for many car makes, Mercedes, BMW etc. In any case the price difference between quality NO and non-NO quality tyres is modest. Pictures areof two different makes and size, both with NO on the tyre wall. If you buy your own from Oponeo 0800 066 3422, they will deliver to anywhere you request, most tyre fitters will fit them for you but check first. If you use someone like STS Tyre Pros, they claim to have specialist fitters for high performance cars, and do operate good quality premises. As others have said, do ensure you know the size, from your wheel description they are 21's, Oponeo will guide you professionaly (I'm not connected to them!), perhaps take a photo of the size markings on the tyre wall for reference.
