Hi all. I’ve just been into Porsche for a software update, typical up selling of things I don’t need. God love em.

My tyres are in 3.1mm back and 3.4/3.7 front. Quoting over £400 for front replacements each and over £200 each for back. Can’t recall if this includes labour. He said unless I use Porsche approved tyres it will invalidate any warranty extension I may buy ( it’s still under warranty until sept this year). My question, is this actually the case, does anyone recommend cheaper tyres that are Porsche approved, or is that all sales patter and any will do?

Thanks!! First time Porsche owed and a girl that knows nothing about cars!

As long as the tyres you fit are “N” rated you’ll be fine.
You can source and have them fitted wherever you choose.
I use the “Black circles” website which uses a network of local garage you can choose from.

As Paul has said, the key factor in maintaining the warranty is the use of "N" rated tyres. Depending on which tyres you use, the rating could show as N0, N1, N2 etc. The number just shows whether it's a first Porsche acceptance or a revised one. It's also possible to have a different number for the rear tyres compared to the front as a result of them being different sizes.

Don't worry about the complications. just make clear to your supplier (which does not have to be your Porsche dealer) that the tyres must be N rated. Get him to show you the N on the sidewall.

By the way, Porsche recommend changing tyres at 3mm but the legal limit is 1.6mm. As your tyres are still over 3mm you don't need to do anything today, take the next month or so to source the best deal. I paid £1200 for a full set of 20" tyres from my OPC, fully fitted, others have managed much better deals elsewhere.

Try Oponeo.co.uk and have them delivered for free to your local installer (or choose a fitting service) - they were the cheapest I could find for the front wheels on my Macan S.
2 x 'N0' rated Pirelli P-Zero's (235/40/21) for £342. I had them fitted at Formula One Autocentre in Leicester for £15 each wheel. Absolute bargain compared to OPC and £70 cheaper than buying direct from Formula One.

You can almost guarantee that the first quote for tyres from the OPC will be well above any other reputable tyre fitter. I would be surprised if you cant buy tyres for half of their quote. Some on here have managed to get the OPC to come down to a much more realistic price confronted by a quote from a reputable local or online tyre shop.

If you’re a Porsche Club GB member they run an offer, in conjunction with Pirelli, for a discount of up to £50 for two tyres and up to £100 for four tyres, depending on size, in the form of a fuel card. But you have to buy the Pirelli tyres from an OPC or approved Pirelli outlet.

Hi and welcome. :)

I got quoted £905.94 for 2 rear Pirellis (20” and 305 wide) for my 911 by my OPC. I got a quote from Black Circles for a set of 4 Michelins (widely considered to be a better tyre) for a much more competitive price. My OPC then agreed to supply and fit 4 Michelins for just £1,000, so yes, definitely worth a haggle!

P.S. Why are they quoting front tyres at double the cost of rear tyres!?

I was in the same predicament at yourself but when I had my tyres checked they had more tread than I thought. 3mm rear and closer to 3.5/4mm front. When I was looking the best deal was through black circles for Porsche n rated latitude sport 3’s. With 10% off it was circa £780/790 Inc fitting at a garage of your choice. Camskill had a £50 deal off Michelin which worked out to around £700 with delivery but not including fitting. Both were N0 rating

(and £209 for Michelin fronts each fitted, with additional discount codes for multi purchase)
