I see that Porsche offer a cover for £250 - has anyone got any feedback on it, please?

Similarly, any reviews of unofficial versions gratefully received.

Thanks all

Mark

Mine lives outside. I’d never cover it. I’d be too worried about damage to the paintwork on the car, plus too much hassle.

On a separate note, I’ve seen a ‘Pink Pig’ design Porsche cover on the Rennlist Forum, but that was for a 911. 🐷

Outdoor or Indoor? No experience of Porsche branded covers, I use “Storm Car Covers” The indoor ones are fine, shaped to fit car by type, albeit not what I would call a glove fit they keep the cars clean and well protected. Also have a satin sheet, very fine and just throw over, bit like the showroom ones however any breeze through a open door and they can be blown off 🤕. Outdoor, I have used two as full winter covers one for a hatchback and one for a sports car. They do protect the car well if you cannot garage but, the car must be clean and dry before fitting and you need to keep it strapped to resist movement, should also check occasionally for any moisture under surface due to condensation. Great for longer term covering, not so good if removing frequently as you have to be careful not to pick up grit when fitting removing/storing. All the cars I have covered are considerably smaller than the Macan.

Indoor. Seem to get some tiny white dots from the ceiling - not sure what they are, but can be a bit of a bugger to clean off. Something easy to lob over / pull off would be great.

I have the Porsche covers for both my cars. They are a great fit, very stretchy and easy to pull on and off though I think would be a bit tiresome for a daily driver. The cars are normally garaged and in the present circumstances the covers give protection from dust and insect deposits and also potential damage as I move about in the garage with tools , etc.

I'm keeping myself busy at the moment giving the 911 a good spring clean. Tar spot removal, clay bar, machine polish and wax then back under its cover until I can use it again!

I use indoor covers from Specialised Car Covers, very good quality and you can design it to your own preference. As long as the car is clean and dry before the cover is fitted then they do a good job.

Only ever used an outdoor cover once, back in the 90's, on an MGF. The local cat used to climb up under it and sleep on the soft top roof. Hair and scratches everywhere!

What sort of prices are any of these covers. It does annoy me when the dust gathers on an otherwise spotless car.

One issue i always thought could be a problem is does the cover come down and cover wheels and tyres. I always dress the tyres and if this gets on the cover I can see it making a mess as the cover is then removed.

The silk sheet is a nice idea as it does any car but my Macan is parked beside another car which moves daily so it seems once that garage door is open the sheet might move. Also cracks me up to see these sheets in showrooms thrown on the floor after unveiling a car and then placed on the next delivery, what the dirt particles it has picked up off the floor

I’m a bit too OCD lol

This is the one I use:

Yes, tyre dressing can get on the cover. I use Autoglym tyre dressing, which dries after a while so is less likely to get on the cover then. The cover is washable but I haven't done that yet.
