I found this article from Car Magazine today (8th April 2020).
They say:
"You'll be able to choose one as a full electric SUV, or with petrol and hybrid power.
It's a reflection that Porsche simply isn't ready yet to put all its eggs in one basket.
So for now it's hedging its bets, with different powertrains for different markets around the globe."

Great news!
Porsche Decides to Keep Petrol for the 2022 Macan
There is a fault in Car's logic in that this mule could just be minor developments of the current base Macan as the Porsche as always said the current petrol Macan will continue alongside the new EV one. Until an EV mule has been seen I do not think they have an argument.
To rely on blanked off air intakes for your argument at those winter temps is a weak argument

EVs facing a perfect storm: CV19 shows what a real global crisis looks like (and its nothing to do with CO2 and climate change). Therefore the enthusiasm for green policies may falter; oil prices are falling so renewable energy and infra-structure becomes less commercially attractive; the car industry bosses (Porsche),with behind closed doors expert analysis, are not sufficiently convinced by the EV proposition to ditch petrol.
Good, long live petrol engines!

Once we come out from this current crisis there may have to be a review on the timeline for EV infrastructure rollout. Cannot see so many governments having the public funds to create it, therefore would be reliant on massive private investment? The vast part of the world are already yet to show any solid commitment and the only real example held up as a shining light for the “Way Forward” is NORWAY, pretty ironic with just 5.5 million people, mostly clustered around Oslo but also one of the richest countries in the world, due to what? You’ve guessed it, exports from North Sea OIL and GAS
