Macan 2019/20 Turbo - any first thoughts from forum owners?
Hi - I’m just about to pull the trigger on a new Macan Turbo. My trusty 2014 Macan SD is being sold and I’ve enjoyed every single mile behind the wheel. I have not seen many forum reviews of the new Turbo. Can any new Turbo owners share their thoughts? Many thanks in advance

I swapped from a GLC 63S to a Macan Turbo on 1st March 2020.
It's my first Porsche.
The car is amazing: so well built, rides and handles exquisitely (on PASM) and has great performance.
The exhaust sound is a little quiet but it's still the best car I've ever had.
There have been no faults or problems so far and my newly-opened local OPC have been great.

Autotopnl have done a YouTube vid of the new turbo and they’ve also tested the previous turbo, I think it was a remapped non PP. Worth watching back to back. There may also be a previous gen turbo pp I forget
I test drove a couple of new S’s as well as a previous gen turbo and the exhaust is far quieter on the new because of the GPF. In the end I went for a previous gen Turbo PP and the exhaust is spot on. Lovely burble decelerating and a nice pop on the way up.
I cant really see the advantage of the 2.9 hot V in the new turbo vs the 3.6 in the old. I think they’re both about 440bhp. The PP has more torque than the newer car, the new one is slightly faster to 60, but neither are going to feel slow. If you like the light bar and the new screen then there’s no doubt it’s a cracking car but for me the 40% depreciation over 2.5 years bought me a ‘bargain’ turbo over a new one, plus of course when I first started looking there was no new turbo on the scene.
I would compare a previous gen turbo vs a new one, has the opc got a gen 1 turbo with PSE in used stock you could try?

The big advantage is lower MPG, I think facelift v6 Macan's across the range have at least a 3 mpg up to 5 mpg gain over the equivalent pre-facelift model in the range. Of course, the change in MPG measurement to a more realistic basis hides the change in official published figures.
I am not saying that depending on your priorities there are no disadvantages for the facelifts. Other pro's of facelifts are the new PCM with a bigger screen, better voice control and the addition of washer squirt to rear parking/surround-view camera

With regards to mpg, I'm getting 22-29mpg and averaging 25 which suits me fine!
Mine is a 2020 Turbo with 1300 miles done so far: it would have been more if we weren't in lockdown!
25 on a run (not that I’ve done many)
27 with the other half driving it
13-17 if really pushing on (manual or sports plus and giving it some
23 ish overall
So yes it appears there is a mpg increase in the new engine. About 30 miles per tankful.

Don’t know where you get this from, I’ve averaged 22 to 23 in mine over three and a half years or so.
