Have just emailed my contact at Porsche, outlining that they quoted me £905.94 for two rear tyres (305/30 R20 Pirelli P-Zero N1) and I just got a quote from Black Circles for £859.96 for a set of FOUR Michelin Pilot Sport 4S (N0). I've asked what is the best price that Dick Lovett could do me for a full set of the Michelins... Not sure that I should be holding my breath...! ;)

That's a great price from Black Circle, and Michelins! Not so good from Porsche but in keeping with the general trend

I’ve always got close to on line outlets through Porsche

Happy to pay a smidge more on the basis they would be easier to murder if they damaged anything

There are lots of tyre dealers and prices vary significantly for the same make & model.

Here's a comparison site https://www.tyrecomp.co.uk/ but it's not as comprehensive as the main consumer type ones for insurance etc.

If they get close to Black Circles, I'll go with the OPC. VanB got within £50 or so for two tyres. If they come up with £1,000 for a full set of Michelins, I'll go with the OPC. Less hassle and probably nicer coffee ;)

Thanks, Steve. Just checked. Black Circles comes out better than any of those. (They currently have a 10% discount on Michelin tyres.)

Got a nice little Macan for the morning. 2.0, 20” Spyders, 14-ways, pano roof, Volcano Grey.

One of the rear tyres has a nail in it. :( Tyre tread depth around 3.3 to 3.5mm on rears & 5.8mm on fronts. They advised new rear tyres. 2 x Pirelli P-Zeroes N1 at £905.94 for the pair. Ouch! Just checked out Black Circles. All four Michelin Pilot Sport 4S N0 came out at £861.16!

My plan was to swap to Michelins when the Pirellis are done. Thinking of running the rears until they’re close to legal limit and then change all four tyres to Michelins...

Am thinking I could get the nail damage repaired in the meantime?
I'd be up for repairing it. I had a very similar puncture and was happy to repair it. Especially at normal sane UK speeds I would have no concerns at all.

I had a plug in the n/s/f of my Macan GTS fir the best part of 2 yrs / 20000 miles. Never list any pressure in that time. BUT the nail was plumb centre if the tread; I wouldn’t entertain a repair anywhere beyond 2/3 of the tread pattern.
