Hi guys
I have the bug and looking to buy a 911. Probably a 991.1 or 991.2.
What are peoples views on these two?

Would appreciate any feedback. What are the must have options? Any advice from current owners of the Carrera 4S and Carerra S.
Thank you.

Depends if you like turbos or not.
That is the major difference between these two models and their engines.
The 03/2016 991.2 seems a bit higher mileage, but if you do not intend to add too much, that is not an issue. Otherwise looks nicely specced.
The older 2014 991.1 has the old design shift paddles, where you push the paddles that are mounted within the steering wheel, like buttons.
This car will sound much better than the 991.2 with it's 3.8 l naturally aspirated engine.
I'd say that you need to drive them to decide between the two models, because they are so different due to the engines.

The Gen 1 looks nice although wrong steering wheel which seems strange given they went to the expense of ceramics which is just unnecessary!
Love the duck tail.
Never had any noticeable traction issues only having 2wd in my 992.
4s adds weight and dulls down steering feel.
I agree NA probably sounds a bit nicer but mine still sounds awesome and turbo seems to be the current trend.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I thought the mileage was a bit high on the 991.2.Semerka wrote: ↑Thu Aug 20, 2020 3:39 pm Depends if you like turbos or not.

Thanks for your reply. Good to know you have never had any traction issues with 2wd in your S. I am also considering the S. Do you use winter tyres when it gets cold?Tracky wrote: ↑Thu Aug 20, 2020 8:12 pm The Gen 1 looks nice although wrong steering wheel which seems strange given they went to the expense of ceramics which is just unnecessary!

At the moment demand seems high and choice is limited at OPCs. The good low mileage examples are sold very quickly. I am also thinking maybe wait a few months and see if prices drop.

No winter tyres just a little respect
I did think about it hard having had a couple of years in a 4 wheel drive AMG e class and an RS4 before that but don’t currently regret my decision
It is certainly considerably better than your previous m3!

They are awesome cars whichever one you get.
You can see my spec for what I considered important, although sunroof was a bit of a whim I must admit.
I had no previous 911 experience and was considering 4 wheel drive as I was concerned about all that power going through the rear wheels. Advice was that the 2 was 'more fun' and of course is lighter with perhaps more 'feel', as has been said. The electronics are so good though at keeping it all under control you'd have to be pretty clumsy, or stupid, to get it really out of shape. Be careful if you switch PSM off though....(it stands for Please Save Me ).
Make sure you have a cast iron warranty with your used purchase.

Must be very good to not need winter tyres in the cold. I was surprised at how well the S handled when I went to the Porsche Range Experience last year.
You had to give a lot of respect in the M3 with traction control off otherwise you'd end up in a ditch lol!
I do fancy getting back in a RWD car. My max budget is £70k.
