Bit late to this party but have answered the PM now.

These things are very personal and relate to where you are in your car buying life ;)

However pleased to see that you had a good feeling from the engine being NA. I bought mine 15 minutes after the test drive having already had 991.2 loaners several times and it was not particularly cheap! I agree power is enough for today's roads and more than you may have realized in a short drive :o because of the the nature of the engine. I have had no real issues and have just hit 40k miles; a couple of recall actions that's all.

For my modest needs it makes a great premium tourer, indicates over 30mpg, moderate insurance, the road tax is good! :o It took me ages to get to the bottom of the options list and eventually got the build spec from DL Bristol for mine and configured it as a 991.2 at £100k+ . The one you looked at surprisingly also has the extra sport body kit, 14 way sports seats (mine has 'ordinary' 14 way!).

I am not a black car fan :? fortunately I like cleaning it and it does look exceedingly good when polished up 8-)

Good luck what ever you plump for in the end -- D

Just to add to the debate, I am in a 991.1 vs 991.2 quandary as I am looking to move on from my manual 997.1 turbo after 7 years of ownership for no reason other than I fancy a change. It is a bit of a heart vs head debate as I am pretty sure the 997 won’t lose too much in terms of depreciation, I just fancy something different.

So having looked at both 991 options I am considering going for a .2 on the basis that if I do miss the BHP and torque then Litchfield appears to have some reasonable options to boost the performance of the .2 whereas improving on the .1 seems to be a bit more involved. 992.1 figures from Litchfield are below.

Model Power Torque
Carrera and Carrera T Standard 365 bhp (370 PS) 332 lbft (450 Nm)

Carrera and Carrera T Litchfield Remap 460 bhp (466 PS) 430 lbft (583 Nm)

Carrera S Standard 414 bhp (420 PS) 369 lbft (500 Nm)

Carrera S Litchfield Remap 493 bhp (500 PS) 430 lbft (583 Nm)

Carrera GTS Standard 444 bhp (450 PS) 406 lbft (550 Nm)

Carrera GTS Litchfield Remap 532 bhp (540 PS) 479 lbft (650 Nm)

Has anyone any experience of these upgrades in real world driving?

I had my Carrera T upgraded by Litchfield and am very happy with the result. I had the full works done - suspension, spacers, remap, new manifolds, new sports CATs and a Remus silencer. I was heavily influenced by a drive in Iain Litchfield’s own upgraded Carrera T, plus reading lots of very positive reviews.

Very much heart over head though. The full works came to over £10k. I love the way it goes, sounds and looks, but as said previously, the original 370hp is more than enough for today’s roads in the UK, plus modifying can present problems with trade in/resale.

A quick update ... still looking just not found the right car.
On a plus note I sold the BMW on Wizzle in less than a week for a very good price. I was hardly using it with working from home so got out of it.

Winter months are best time to pick up a good deal, especially post Christmas (if we’re allowed out then 🥺😷) good hunting.
