Motorways reduced to 60 mph in new "trial"

What's happened to the EU plan for all cars to be fitted with a limiter coupled to the road speed limits to prevent speeding. I thought it was imminent ?

Not due until 2022, although I think the UK will adopt, even though out of the EU? I can see this causing problems of 'bunching' with new cars doing the speed limit and older ones tailgating?

I'm not a fan of the idea overall, but on a personal note, if it stopped some of the !@£$ going past my house at 50/60 (in a 30), it wouldn't be too bad?

On the MI Northbound near me, Jct 33 to 34 the overheads now show 60mph, to improve air quality. Ironic, around that location there is not that much of a built up area. I can think of more densely populated areas, but are not affected.
