So today I had a new 20 plate Cayenne demonstrator whilst my car was finally in being checked for any oil issues (none to report thankfully, just what appears to have been a careless spillage).

My thoughts on the Cayenne in comparison to my Macan SD:

Pros:
I wasn't sure if this actually was a pro or not but there was a huge difference on the centre console, screen display and dashboard layout. Very modern and highly impressive but after only a day, the piano black consoles and screens were covered in finger prints and dust. Nice for a day but maybe not a preference over buttons.

My car does not have PASM and this Cayenne did. The Cayenne had the larger wheels. The pro for me was that i felt the ride to be literally the same as my Macan without PASM on 20 inch spyders.

The interior was noticeably bigger which in comparison to the compact Macan was actually quite nice given my son is 2 years old.

The petrol engine definitely sounded better than the diesel as you would imagine so it was nice to have the extra interaction when putting the foot down.

Overall, the look of the car was very impressive. Particularly in the Crayon grey. The headlights were stunning and the rear tailight design a lovely modern touch.

Cons:
The brakes were a bit odd. Before coming to a complete stop, they seemed to grab meaning a stop wasn't completely smooth. Certainly would take some getting used to!

Although the extra interior space in the car is more practical, i prefer the overall smaller/squatted size of the Macan.

The 18 way seats were nice but probably not an option i would tick having now tried them. The 8 ways are more than suitable.

The steering wheel wasn't as nice as the Macan. It was heated unlike mine so made of a different material.

Road noise from the tyres was noticeable to say the least!

The MPG at 24, was a stark contrast to the diesel!

The car had condensation in the rear lights (pretty bad actually).

My car is going back in next month for a further check for my complete piece of mind over 1000 miles, not 600. I have chosen the new Boxster as a car for the day or 2 at that point 8-)

Nice pics and review. Thanks for sharing. My most recent loaner was a Cayenne too. Nice car, but a bit of a bus compared to a Macan, or my 911. ;)

‘Very modern’ dash and centre console with lots of shiny black plastic/glass is here to stay. Already in the Panamera, Cayenne and 911, so we know what’s coming for the interior of the next Macan...

Well, they said "what would you prefer, sports car or SUV?". It would have been rude not to ...

Unusual colour on the one above!

^^^ Biscay Blue Metallic. Available on launch of the new Cayenne, but doesn’t now appear on the GB configurator, so maybe discontinued. I like it. :)

Me too. Should be added to the standard metallic option for Macan. The choices now are too narrow.
