Let’s assume that since Macan has a Porsche-tweaked engine, it is classified as Porsche.

My best engine was 3.0L straight-6, twin-turbo motor, mounted in a BMW 435i

What was/is yours?
That was the N54, which was amazing and won engin eof the year several times!
My vote goes to the magnesium 3.0 N52. The one found in the 130i / 630i and a few others. Wonderful sound and response from one of the last blank sheet NA series production engines.

Your M135i (if the 2012+ era F2* model) was a single turbo cheaper version called N55.
Still amazing and actually less potential issues.

The E46 M3 you were lucky to own, had a very different engine to either of those though. It was a straight six, but was 3.2 and shared nothing with the messer spotted N engines.
I missed out on those, as they were way too expensive, when they were newish, but way too money pit-ish once I could have afforded one.
Same goes for the Z3MC, with the same engine. I still hanker for one of those!
