I know that not everyone on here will follow/like Formula 1, but I have to say that yesterday’s Sakhir Grand Prix at Bahrain was the most exciting race I’ve watched in ages. I deeply sympathise with George Russell, but much of the race had me on the edge of my seat and swearing at the telly! That’s something that sadly I can’t say about most F1 races these days.

Thanks for the info Simon. I've recorded the highlights and I might actually bother watching them now.

Hi Peter,

I watched the highlights last night. Many races this year would have caused me to nod off before the end, but not this one. Very exciting!

Cheers,
Simon

I watched the race live and enjoyed immensely - getting value for money for my £25pm Sky Sports subscription this year as the races are so compressed into the calendar. I felt very sorry for George Russell, but he certainly showed his ability and outshone Valtteri for sure. Mercedes are very well placed for when Lewis eventually retires.

+1 best grand prix for some time. I wonder how long Bottas will be Hamilton's teammate. I think Bottas as is actually signed up for next year. Mercedes could partly solve the problems caused by the F1 budget cuts by withdrawing the offer to Hamilton and signing George but I think they might have to compensate Williams for whom he is signed next year

I, for one, would love to see this = George driving for Mercedes next year. I also think it would command quite a lot of public support too, although not unanimous.

Plus, I’m a Michael Schumacher fan. ;)

Looking forward to seeing an M Schumacher on the grid again next year! :)

Drivers' salaries are excluded from the 2021 budget cap so it would make no difference next year. There is talk of a $30m driver salary cap for 2022 onwards - I doubt Hamilton will get out of bed for such a paltry sum, so perhaps he'll retire at the end of 2021 ;)

Doesn't Russell's performance just highlight the concern that's it's not the driver but the car?

It was a great race :D :D :D (for a change)

I feel sorry for George but at least it wasn't his "fault" that he didn't win.

Hopefully a good future for George. :D :D :D
