Interesting comment in that Autocar review.
The Taycan has proved to be a real success story for Porsche so far, becoming the company's second-best-selling model in the UK after the Macan SUV. For the first nine months of last year, Porsche registered more than three times as many Taycans as it did Panameras.
A lot of these sales must be to new Porsche customers.

For me, it needs an increase on it's quoted range to 400, giving about 300 real-life driving which means the longer journeys I do can then be accomplished easily
(Playing with the range calculator, 302 is achieved at 35 degrees with no air-con...)

Yep, like anything in life it has to be as convenient or better than the current options before it become a contender in its own right. For me that means at least a 400 range between charges, the ability to stop and charge in much the same way as I can currently stop and refuel my ICE cars and faith in the longevity of the power pack. It seems some of these may have just been addressed by the lithium ion phosphate battery technology just announced by Penn State but I think it'll be another 4-5 years before the infrastructure will be in place to cover the convenience factor. Until then I'll stick with my Macan GTS

After living with a Tesla for 3 years I’m finding it better and more convenient overall than any ICE alternative. Having to stop for around 30-40 mins every 200 miles on a long journey may be less convenient (although good for my well being!), but then I never have to go into fuel stations at all on a daily basis. Pretty much every other aspect of the EV experience is an improvement over ICE. There are lots of advantages that you don’t even realise exist until you actually make the change. I certainly won’t ever be going back and my wife has finally replaced her diesel with a Model 3 (360 mile WLTP range, so at least 300 real world)Miopyk wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 11:45 am Yep, like anything in life it has to be as convenient or better than the current options before it become a contender in its own right. So a starting price of £70k for something considerably slower and with less range than our £48k Model 3. That is definitely not going to work for me!Wing Commander wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 9:02 am Autocar article on new base Taycan model launched from just over £70k.

That’s right. Which one is supposed to be the sports car again? How disappointed would you be if you climbed into your prestige £70k (more like £80k+ with basic options) sports car and found that it was much slower than your daily runabout? Not acceptable I’m afraid.
