Sad yes but it will be really interesting to see the type 131. I doubt it will look anything like that image...I think that's from a good few years ago.
Hopefully I'll get to drive my elise a bit more than last year!

I think there are a few of us on here
Does seem like an end of an era.
I’ve had a few over 15 years and enjoyed it. Not sure if I’ll fee the same about the new one, I assume it will be more grown up

I agree, it will probably be more refined although if that’s the case not sure it will have much appeal for many long term Elise and Exige owners? I consider them as seriously capable raw fun, to outright track racers that by comparison to others are economical to run. Personally never considered Evora’s as they didn’t fit IMO that criteria, I would always choose a 911 over it. As already stated prices have risen dramatically the entry level base Exige is £62k. Took the Lotus licence two years ago with three whole days at Hethel, they were just starting on the new Halls for the Evija build. The Lotus guys were clearly excited with their new owners and the long awaited investment. Nice pics here’s another.

I can’t exactly remember what I paid for my S2 exige, maybe early 40s and sold it to a dealer for £30k ish I think after 8 years so that’s not too bad really after 30k miles.
The v6s were about 50% more than the S2 which was a lot when you are sat in the same interior ! It is a very different car to drive though and suits the bigger, faster tracks more than the S2.
Paying £110k for a 430 cup exige is eye watering given you can easily modify a base car to that level for a fraction of the cost like I’ve done with mine.

I have been looking at an Elise as a fun weekend car, but what has really put me off is the prices. New ones are £40k or more so you get hit with five years of £325 VED supplement, and £40k seems an awful lot for something so, er, minimalist. I get the "money spent on engineering" point, but it's still a lot of cash. Even a 2016 model is £30k plus. And when I look at asking prices for Exiges and Evoras I'm genuinely surprised that they sell any. For clarity, I'm referring to road use only - I accept that a track car is a different thing altogether.
