Re, definitely try before you buy
Fair points, thanks. As you say, depreciation is the real killer, and these cars appear to have fantastic retained values. Spoken like a true bean counter! Regarding "try before you buy", again good advice. I'm 6ft tall and not fat exactly, but have a typically late middle aged tummy. Plus I have stiff knees from years of football and squash - I'm about as flexible as a breezeblock. Will I struggle to get in and out of an Elise? I suppose it must be easier with the roof off?
Yes, lots but many do find it a challenge even then. There is certainly a knack and suitable attire, you will either learn to love it or hate it. A far cry from the discussions on here re high bolsters on sports seats
Define suitable attire!?

My heart sank when I read Lotus was discontinuing the Elise, Exige and Evora. The Elise is the car that saved Lotus. It came along at the right time; it was 'affordable'. I worry the new breed of Lotuses will simply be far too expensive.
I had the first customer Elise S2 delivered into Scotland, and kept it 8 years. My only regret is selling it. It was one of these 'baby forces sale' moments that I later regretted!
