Long shot but has anybody owned a 928?

Can’t help but looking through classifieds and wondering if I want a late model one

First question to myself is would I hate an old school auto?

Would probably prefer manual but quite rare.

Am positive that at least one forum contributor has one or had one. Can’t recall who though... 🤔

Like the cars for sale - far and few between probably.

Mrs has approved purchase so just need to research!

I'm sure there are many lower priced ones about, but would suggest to be avoided. As bringing them back to any sort of good condition is horrendously expensive. But the ones that are in tip top condition with FSH, are rare and very pricey. Manual ones are rarer still.

I’m thinking one of the later ones for sure

Ideally a GTS and may have to accept they will be an auto which maybe goes more with the nature of the car anyway

So

Seen one but has 8 owners.

Would that concern anybody on a 27 year old car?

To me, the pattern of ownership would matter in that example, if one owner of 20 years than seven of just one year or less, I would be concerned and avoid.

A 928 is, like a 911, an unusual car that people may need to pass on due to a change in circumstances; so as long as some of the ownership periods have been of reasonable length, I would not be concerned. Condition and regular service more important

Definitely stay away from high numbers of ownership changes with prestige brand modern classics. Have to remember that they would have at some point been cheap as chips during their lifetime and often owners would move it on as they couldn’t or wouldn’t take the service/repair costs. Essential to have well documented full service and repair/rebuild records in evidence.

I’ve asked if the current owners know of the previous history before them. They had it for 5 years and done little mileage.
