Thanks Semerka for your insights. I think leather treatment is a good plan, irrespective of the transmission. It will probably be my last anti-social vehicle, with petrol, leather and other guilty pleasures.Semerka wrote: ↑Thu Sep 02, 2021 1:15 pm Hi Pivot, I had a look at your configuration.
If you are now leaning towards the manual transmission, you could then either have the GTS Interior or the Extended Leather Interior for the money you save on the PDK.
Or if you like the Race-Tex, opt for the Race-Tex interior with extensive items in leather.
The cabin is a nice place to be with the dashboard and the top of the doors, etc. lined in leather (rather than plastic).
Also perhaps consider the dual climate control, it's much easier for controlling the aircon. We only have the bogo aircon in our car and we keep adjusting the temperature and the blower (two separate buttons). Whereas climate control is all auto.
Also, while I am enjoying the manual shift mounted to the 300HP motor, I am reconsidering PDK mounted to 400HP power-plant, especially in daily traffic.

This is an interesting thread. Over the years I have had several Boxsters. I think the best one was a 981S. It had a lovely engine which I really enjoyed the sound of as I went up and down through the gears in sport mode. It was fast enough but not so fast that you couldn’t rev the engine hard at times.
I changed it for a really nice looking 718 GTS but I didn’t keep it long as I really didn’t like the sound of the engine especially at higher revs. It was fast and handled nicely of course but the engine spoilt the overall enjoyment. I also noticed a bit of turbo lag which was quite annoying. I changed it for a 911 992 Carrera S PDK which sounds awesome but only once past 3000 rpm by which time it is travelling over the speed limit.
So at the moment I’m considering changing it for a Boxster GTS 4.0 PDK which is plenty fast enough and sounds great too. It has slightly shorter gearing in PDK form I believe. It’s such a good car that I think that in future it will still be in demand when they come through on the 2nd hand market and will probably hold their value better than a flat four turbo car. I’ve had PDK cars for the past few years now as they are just so good especially when in traffic. I’ve also had Bose on all my cars. I didn’t use it on the 981S as I spent my time listening to that sublime engine. On the other hand I had it on quite a lot on the 718 GTS to mask the noise of the engine.

Well I took delivery of my Boxster 25 today roughly 10 months after having an allocation confirmed. Not sure if that is representative of overall lead times but it was long enough for me.

Mrs had a 981S, I have a 992S but there is part of my that agrees that a 4.0 Boxster has to be the sweet spot of the Porsche portfolioSalty wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 7:28 pm This is an interesting thread.
