911 Major Service

Continuing the theme of “Porsche Tax” and servicing costs etc.

Just booked my 991.2 Carrera T in for its ‘major’ service.

It had its first one after less than 16 months, having covered 20k miles. Miles are now at 33k, but it’s two years (next month) after the first/minor service.

Booked it in at Swindon. Price quoted is £790.09.

I declined the air conditioning service.

The above price excludes new spark plugs, as they’re not due until 40k miles or 4 years, whichever comes first. That’ll be a further £486.72

Am not complaining as such, as I’m well aware that a 911 is not a cheap car to run ;)

Just wanted a sense check, especially from other 911 owners on here, to see if the above prices are in line with your expectations.

Cheers,

£790 is a chunk of change but for a major 2 year service on a £100k sports car, it ain’t that bad in my eyes! Hopefully everything is fine and that is not just an entrance fee to the workshop!!

My wife has a VW Polo. It had a two year service which was basically an oil and filter change and a nice video of the underside of the car which cost £155.00. Next years may be more so I reckon two years servicing will be in the region of £350.00 for a 1ltr triple Polo. I think double that for a 911 in a fancy workshop stuffed with specialist tools etc is that bad really. Although I do believe the price they charge for oil at any dealership is outrageous.

Our SEAT Leon 2.0i FR service plan covers two services [minor and major] for £360. This is billed at £14.99 p.m. for 24 months. At a Fixed price until 30 Oct 2022. This includes full Roadside Assiance via the AA too. Bargain. :D

The last major on my 911 included plugs and yes, they take the piss to change spark plugs! Is it only Porsche that give you a quote for a major service but then don’t actually include the price of the major service items ???
They do state it’s time consuming, rear bumper off etc…
Think my bill was circa £1400

In July 2019, the major service on my SD came in at roughly £1,400. That included brake fluid change and air con recharge. If I recall correctly, the actual service was £950.

Without digging out the invoice, things are a bit vague because the car was having AdBlue troubles at the time and the overall invoice charge included replacing the sensor and feed pipe.

Compared with that, the £790 you've been quoted is not bad.

My ex-love, Ruby (2016 Carrera S), had her major 4-year service at mere 10,997 miles at the end of June 2020. I was quoted £1,560.28, but in the end it was cheaper, only £1,272.86. 😆
They said that the job took less time than anticipated.

Quote:
1. Major Service
2. Brake Fluid
3. Add. work every 60,000 km/ 4 year = Spark Plugs, Drive Belt Check.

Total - £1560.28
