Does anybody else hate letting go of cars when it comes time to move on?
I've come to realise that I can't justify keeping my Gen 2 987S Boxster with the Macan on order.
It's a great car, but as age and arthritis catch up with me, I was never driving it more than 1000 miles a year and those only in a narrow window in the summer months.
I'm really struggling with the idea of selling it - but I think the time has come
In the past, I've just given cars to my son - but he's already getting my RRS
I think I may be a natural "hoarder" ....
Letting Go!
100%. I’ve spent years with my current car and its served me well and I’ve got used to its foibles and quirks ( not so much its rattles ). I always hate to see cars go. I think its partly the thought that someone else will be driving around in MY car and may not treat it as well as I didDannyp wrote: ↑Thu Oct 14, 2021 9:16 am Does anybody else hate letting go of cars when it comes time to move on?

Btw, the other thing I almost always do is discover something about the car I never knew about 2 days before I sell it!!
I kept my 987S for almost 16 years, letting it go last month to make way for the Macan - it wasn't getting used much and after also letting go of the Discovery Sport the Boxster just wasn't a practical car (hence its lack of use over the years). I thought i'd never sell it, but it was time to move on; it was a great car that gave lots of pleasure and never let me down. Lots of memories of great drives in Scotland and weekends in Champagne. I'm sure the next owner will be happy with it..
Revised.

Well, I CAN still justify a second car and I could be tempted by a 987S! However, there are several "red lines" 1. PDK gearbox, 2. Fits my garage, 3. Driver can exit when in said garage!
The Macan passes 1 & 2 but fails 3 but I don't mind that living outdoors as if doesn't have a opening (or maybe leaky glass) roof!
So, Danny, auto? and do the mirrors fold, if so how wide is it with a) 1 folded b) both folded?

Ah well, it was a nice thought while it lasted. I can do the clutch, just not both accelerator and brake with my right leg! Those measurements do make it sound feasible though ..........

Well that's that!
I'm just not letting it go
I've been offered 13.5k by the OPC I'm buying the Macan from, 14k by the dealer I bought the Boxster from and 16.8 by one of the online outfits.
It's worth more than that to me.
I just can't do it
I'll rebuild the garage a bit wider and keep it !!
It's a 310bhp Gen 2 with turbo wheels and a sand leather interior.
59,000 miles on the clock and drives like new .
It stays!
Think of it! - OPC offers me 13.5 k for my car - while I've got 10k of extras specified on a 65k new car. Hmmmphhhh!

clearly the sensible, and correct emotional choice. Not a day passes that I don’t wish I’d kept the AstonDannyp wrote: ↑Sun Oct 24, 2021 7:10 pm Well that's that!

I find myself looking on collecting cars for cars I’ve sold and shouldn’t have done and wonder if I should get one back but worry it just wouldn’t be the same!!
